The meeting which started at 10 p.m. at the Government House in Osogbo, lasted till the early hours of Thursday.
The APC governors at the meeting were Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) and Babatunde Fashola (Lagos). Other leaders of the party at the meeting included the National Deputy Chairman of the party, Mr. Segun Oni, Senator Chris Ngige, Senator Babatunde Ojudu and Alhaji Lai Mohammed, among others.
Although the meeting was held behind closed doors, it was learnt that it was called to discuss various issues affecting the party, including the last governorship election in Ekiti State.
Other issues reportedly discussed at the meeting included the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State and the impeachment threat against Governor Muritala Nyako of Adamawa State.
However, none of the governors at the meeting spoke with newsmen at the end of the meeting as they all declined to comment on the questions posed to them by journalists.
But, Mr. Oni informed that the APC leaders resolved at the meeting to challenge the result of the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State in court, saying the party would ensure that what happened in Ekiti State did not occur in Osun State.
He said: “What happened in Ekiti State was a new dimension to election rigging in Nigeria. We are therefore ready to challenge the election result in court.”
According to him, the results of the election in Ekiti State did not reflect the wishes of the people of the state.
