NFF election: Security hurdle for aspirants

Candidates battling to be on the new board of Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) aside going through the screening of the NFF electoral committee are to undergo security checks.
Daily Sunsports gathered yesterday that the candidates are to be screened by the State Security Services, (SSS) in a bid to ensure that only credible people make it to Glass House.
The SSS screening, which a source in Abuja hinted is a routine may well halt the ambition of some of the candidates, as those who have cases to answer with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, (ICPC), as well as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) may not get the required clearance for the August 26 election into the executive board.
“Some of the candidates now jostling to be on the board are people who have cases to answer with either the ICPC or EFCC and some others have been indicted by a white paper. These people can jolly well forget it because they wont pass the security screening. Everything points to government ensuring that only credible Nigerians make it to the NFF board,” our source said.
Meanwhile, the electoral committee headed by Amoni Biambo had come under criticisms over the handling of the electoral process, as many candidates cried wolf over the hoarding of forms.
One of the aspirants, Abba Yola, while faulting the electoral process disclosed that it had been difficult getting the forms. “Some individuals are being favoured because those individuals have since got their forms whereas people like me are yet to get it,” he said.
Similarly, executive board member of the present NFF board and also a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Suleiman Kwande had expressed disappointment at the development.
He said, “I haven’t got the form and you can imagine how difficult it will be for some other person out there, who wants to purchase the form also.
“Despite me being a member of the current board, and also a serving member of the Federal House of Representatives, it has been difficult,” he told Cool FM.
The electoral committee for the August 26 General Election into the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday  commenced screening of the candidates in line with the electoral guideline, which set Monday as the official deadline for collection and submission of the form
