2015: PPA uncovers plan to mop up unclaimed voters cards

Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) said that it has uncovered a ploy by agents of Abia state Government to mop up unclaimed voters cards from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) preparatory to the 2015 elections in the state.
This , the party said is aimed at thwarting  the desired change which indigenes of the state have been looking forward to in 2015.
For this reason and more, the Party has called  on INEC not to allow itself to be used by the state Government in truncating  democracy in the state.
The state chairman of PPA, Prince Emeka Okafor, made the call after a meeting of the party in Umuahia, Abia State capital.
In his word: “You are aware that there  are some voters cards with INEC that were not claimed by their owners . We have information that agents of government are striking deals with INEC to collect such cards and give them to whosoever they want to be used in rigging the 2015 elections.
“You know that Abia people are desirous of a change and if INEC should agree with the government, Abia people will not get the kind of governor they are looking for come 2015. I am advising INEC not to be part of this ploy.”
He also warned suspected hoodlums allegedly being engaged by the government to attack offices of other political parties in the state to steer clear of the office of PPA, adding that the party has a right of existence in Abia just as any other party do.
“They have attacked our offices severally , now we have gotten another office, they should not attack us because we have the right of existence in this state,” he noted.
He warned that if thugs attack their office or members again, they would do everything within their power to resist them.
He called on all security arms in the states to give them protection without which they would protect themselves from any invasion by suspected agents of government.
