Former Africa Footballer of the Year, Perpetua Nkwocha, and 2014 FIFA
U-20 Women’s World Cup Golden Boot and Most Valuable Player (MVP),
Asisat Oshoala, top the list of 20 players invited by the Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) for the next month’s Africa Women’s
Championship (AWC) in Namibia.
Veteran goalkeeper and Super Falcons’ captain, Precious Dede and
old-war-horse, Stella Mbachu, are other notable names on the list that
also includes many of the silver-winning Falconets at the recent FIFA
U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
According to the Super Falcons team’s Administrator, Ruth David, the
players and coaches are expected to report to Serob Hotel Abuja on
Sunday.
David said letters of invitation had been sent to the clubs for the
release of the invited players and urged the clubs to release the
players, stressing that the competition is very important to the
country.
