Lady Gaga, 28, said that the rape took place when she was 19 and that she
has gone through years of therapy. She did not go into detail but said that the
aggressor was 20 years older than her.“It happens every day. It’s really scary and it’s sad and it didn’t affect me as much right after as it did about four or five years later,” she told radio host Howard Stern.
“I didn’t tell anybody — I didn’t even tell myself for the longest time,” she said. “Then I was like, you know what, all this drinking and all this nonsense, you have to go to the source, otherwise it won’t go away.”
The singer, who later became known for her gaudy outfits and outspoken social commentary, said that she did not report the rape. She said she saw her aggressor once more when she ran into him at a store and that she became “paralyzed by fear.”
Lady Gaga revealed the rape as she discussed her song “Swine” from her 2013 album “Artpop.” She performed the song at this year’s South by Southwest festival, where she rode a mechanical bull in a suggestive fashion and had a collaborator vomit on her.
“The song is about rape. This song is about demoralization,” Lady Gaga said in her radio interview Tuesday.
“I want this chick to throw up on me in front of the world, so that I can tell them, you know what? You could never, ever degrade me as much as I could degrade myself and look how beautiful it is what I do.”

Impeachment Plot: Presidency pleads with senators

ABUJA—FOLLOWING reports
that the impeachment notice against President Goodluck Jonathan will be
presented on the floor of the Senate when it resumes from the recess on
December 16,
the Presidency yesterday pleaded with the Senate that the interest of
the country and the protection of the nation’s democracy should be
paramount.

Reacting
to the purported impeachment moves by the lawmakers, the Presidency
noted that the country was at the moment facing some challenges and
impeachment will not be required to address the mirage of problems
adding that political problems would require political solutions
In
a statement issued yesterday by the Senior Special Assistant to the
President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, the Presidency urged the
law makers to continue with their work of nation building for the
development of the country and well-being of the people saying, “the
Senate in the last four years has conducted its legislative functions
and responded to issues that are of great national importance with
commendable political sagacity.
The presidency
further said, “In this same period, the senate has functioned as a
stabilizing force within the polity employing much political maturity
that is required to guide and protect our nascent democracy. However,
confrontation and strong disagreements are not uncommon phenomenon in
Executive-Legislative relationship world-wide.
“The
recent purported attempt by some Senators to prepare impeachable
offences against the President, as reported in some section of the
Media, is seen by us in this light.
“We strongly
trust and believe in the leadership of the present Senate and the
unwavering patriotism and commitment that have been shown by the
distinguished members and we trust that ultimately it is this tendency
towards true Nationalism that will prevail in the senate.”
