Former minister of aviation, Femi
Fani Kayode has been acquitted of thirty eight out of forty of the counts of
money laundering hanging over him.
Mr. Fani-Kayode is being prosecuted
by the Economic and financial crimes commission over allegations of financial
dealings without following set rules.
Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia
of a federal high court discharged and acquitted the accused of thirty eight
counts and order the accused to enter defence on two counts.
It will be recalled that Mister
Fani-Kayode was first arraigned sometime in December two thousand and eight
before Justice Ramat Mohammed on a forty seven-count charge.
The charge had be amended, reducing
the alleged amount involved in the crime from over one hundred million naira to
less than three million
