Progressives Grand Alliance, the party says the fight to reclaim the Douglas house in Owerri is a mission that must be accomplished.
The National Chairman of the party,
Chief Victor Umeh, and other stalwarts of the party including Captain Emmanuel
Ihenacho stated this in Owerri when they stormed the state to pay condolence
visits to the families of the 5 members of the party who lost their lives
earlier this week in an auto crash on their way from the national headquarter
of the party in Abuja.
The party chairman said that the
visit was imperative as it will help boost the morale of the members who are in
mourning over the deaths of some of their leaders and members. This gesture he
said is in line with the oneness and togetherness that exist within the party
as is evident in the party’s slogan of ‘’be your brother’s keeper’’.
Chief Umeh leading other party
stalwarts also visited the federal medical center in Owerri where some of the
victims who survived the accident are receiving treatments where they prayed
for their speedy recovery and also for the repose of the souls of the deceased
members.
He however charged the party members
not to allow the unfortunate incidence to derail their struggle, but instead
should motivate them to fight harder and win for them, adding that the party
will see the deceased members as martyrs of the party.
The accident which claimed the lives
of the state publicity secretary of the party, Tony Mgbeahurike and four others
was said to have occurred at Uromi, Edo State, while they were returning to
Owerri from Abuja where they had accompanied one of the party’s governorship
aspirant, Okey Eze, to collect his Expression of Interest and Nomination Form
from the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
