Gaidam urges Yobe residents to be extra vigilant

Posted by: admin February 19, 2015 Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on residents of Damaturu, the state capital, and others across the state to be “extra-vigilant” with happening in their environment and communities in order to checkmate the threat of the Boko Haram insurgents. He said the only way to be able to spot any potential trouble maker before the person could carry out their nefarious acts is by being extra-vigilant. Gaidam gave this charge on Wednesday while addressing members and officials of the State Council of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers during a visit to the Damaturu Central Motor Park, to commiserate with the union as well as families and relations of victims of the suicide bombing at the motor park last Sunday. The governor added, “What happened here last Sunday was heinous and barbaric. Up to 15 people lost their lives and over 50 were injured. It’s sad and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of victims and our sympathies and prayers to those who were injured. “While we cannot control when or where a terror attack might happen, we can go a long way to prevent and even stop these barbaric acts by being extra vigilant; by keenly observing what is happening around our environment. “We should be careful and try to note anyone that comes in and goes out.
