Namibia 2014: Oshoala tips Falcons to rule Africa

As Algeria makes early arrival
Newly invited Super Falcons player, Asissat Oshoala has expressed confidence Nigeria will once again dominate the African continent, starting from the African Women’s Championship billed to commence in Namibia October 11, 2014.
Oshoala, who emerged FIFA U-20 World Cup MVP noted that the calibre of players called up to the Falcons gave her confidence that the Nigeria women’s national team will reign supreme again.
According to africafootball.com, Oshoala noted that the time for Nigeria to reclaim her stronghold on African women’s football had come.
She noted that she and her colleagues, some of who were in the team that lost in the final to Germany in Canada, had resolved to regain the title they lost two years ago in Equatorial Guinea.
Oshoala, who is one of the players listed to receive national honours on (Monday) today, said she as a person will be looking forward to her first senior title by giving the AWC her best shot.
The Ikorodu-born forward told the Super Falcons Media Officer, Gracious Akujobi that they had trained to a point of pain that anything short of the trophy will be regarded as failure in Namibia.
“We know the task ahead of us in Namibia is not going to be easy, but we are determined to win the Cup and go back to the World Cup in Canada as African champions,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Algeria at the weekend made early arrival in Namibia for the African Women Championship, confident the team will secure one of the continent’s Canada 2015 Women’s World Cup ticket.
The Algeria ladies are in group B alongside Ghana, Cameroon and South Africa. Algeria’s head coach, Azzedine Chih had moments after touching down in Windhoek told CAF’s official website that they are in Namibia determined to take their chances in the competition despite being drawn into a tough group. He stressed that arriving early, two weeks before their first game will help his team.
“We are here two weeks before we kickoff our first game and we want to feel the weather and just get going and see what we can do here. We are here to take our chances and see how far we can go.”
