Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba has revealed that Asari
Dokubo and some other former Niger-Delta former militants will be
investigated over their recent threat remarks.
The Nigeria Police is currently investigating the recent threats made by Asari Dokubo and some other Niger-Delta warlords to blow up the country if President Goodluck Jonathan is not re-elected.
The Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba
while in an interactive session with the press on Sunday, February, 1
revealed that the former militants will not be arrested because there
are no evidences yet.
“Do not forget it is
not at every instance you arrest someone, sometimes, the best you do is
to prepare yourselves, get your evidence first. When you have your
evidence, then you go into arrest. Arrest should normally come after the
investigations, investigations are ongoing,’’ he said.
Mujahideen Dokubo-Asari, and some other former Niger-Delta militants like Victor Ben Ebikabowei also known as Boy Loaf, and Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, had reportedly threatened war in the country if President Goodluck Jonathan loses the February election.
Asari Dokubo in a recent interview denounced the country, revealing that is not a Nigerian.
"I don’t see myself as a Nigerian. I have been an enemy of the Nigerian state, so to say," he said in the interview.
The
remarks of the ex-war-lords have drawn criticisms from everywhere but
Suleiman Abba has revealed that the force is yet to receive any formal
complaint.
“I am not aware that any of my officers have said that you require complaint over inflammatory statements by ex-militants. Like I said investigations are going on, when it is the time to arrest, we will effect arrest,” the Police IG said.
