EFCC probes alleged corruption in judiciary

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating alleged cases of corruption in the judiciary.
The EFCC Chairman, Mallam Ibrahim Lamorde, revealed this yesterday in Kano during a workshop on “Reporting Economic and Financial Crimes,” organised by the commission.
Lamorde, who stressed the importance of the judiciary in a clean society, noted that the EFCC will sanitize the sector by investigating some of the alleged cases of corruption involving high level judicial officers
“Some of the investigations are ongoing, although one of them has sued EFCC in a bid to forestall further action. But the commission will not be distracted as we remain committed to bringing the culprit to justice”, he said.
The EFCC boss, represented by Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, Mr. Osita Nwaja, said the EFCC will bring to a logical conclusion many of the cases that are being investigated in other sectors including pension and oil subsidy cases.
He argued the media to lead it its investigative skills in the fight against corruption by exposing grafts and drawing attention to some of the inherent challenges to the anti-corruption campaign.
In his  paper, Kano State Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Danyaro, said objectivity which should have been the core value of reportage has been thrown into the trash bin, hence Nigerians are easily enticed with bad news. According to him, rather than promote unity in diversity, the Nigerian media prefers the opposite.
