ACCA denies ICAN’s statement on members

Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) has assured that its students and members can work any where in the world.
Speaking in Lagos during a summit on Wednesday, the Country’s Manager, Nigeria, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ademola, explained that what necessitated the current problem were stories going round that people with ACCA qualification cannot work in Nigeria. She said, “our partner universities are beginning to ask why we should continue to teach the ACCA qualification. We have 229 universities and we cannot go to all of them to refute the falsehood, we decided to invite all of them.”
She maintained that ACCA  is not a threat to any other professional accounting body but a body with a sound belief in total package for members.
“In some cases, there is a perceived impression of what ACCA student members can do. What the story says is that ACCA members who have not converted to ICAN cannot practice , which is quite different from working. Practice means that they cannot find up contact, we are not struggling with that because how many finance professionals or accountants actually go in for audit?
“Let’s set the record straight, ACCA students and members can work anywhere based on antecedents, whether we are a threat or not, I look at it that at a population of over 177 million people, it is not about competition but about proof and delivering value.”
