The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nasarawa State command has said that it would start the implementation of speed limit devices by June 1, 2015.
The sector commander of the FRSC in the state, Mrs Faustina Alegbe, stated this yesterday at a sensitisation campaign held by the command in Lafia.
Faustina who was represented by the sector head of operations, Deputy Corps Commander Emmanuel Agongbade said the introduction and implementation of the device was based on the realisation that over speeding is responsible for most fatal crashes recorded in Nigeria.
“The speed limiter device is so far the best way to check mate excessive speeding and we urge all stakeholders to be on guard to ensure the success and implementation of the device.” She said
Faustina revealed that the speed limit device was a mechanical device installed in a vehicle to prevent the vehicle from going beyond the preset speed limit.
According to the sector commander, the speed limiter reduces cost of maintenance of vehicles and reduces the cost of fuelling.
