Ahead of the 2015 general elections, a group seeking fresh mandate for President Goodluck Jonathan, Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, (TAN) is set to organise a rally for the president in Awka, Anambra State capital today.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, Director of Communications of the group, Dr Udenta Udenta said similar rallies would hold across the geo-political zones in the country.
Though President Jonathan is yet to officially declare interest in the PDP presidential ticket, Udenta however noted that the “highpoint of the rallies is the collation of signatures and telephone numbers of more than 10 million Nigerians who would place a demand on the President.”
Dignitaries expected at the Akwa rally include former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, former Senate Presidents Chief Adolphus Wabara and Senator Ken Nnamani; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Ayim as well as Senators and members of the House of Representatives and top political appointees from the zone.
Udenta further noted that the President Jonathan administration has brought tremendous progress to the South-East and in appreciation of his positive impact, “the people of the South-East zone who are already overwhelmed by the unparalleled achievements of Mr. President in varied spheres of human endeavours including massive social and physical infrastructure, human capital development, employment generation and appointments, would place a demand on Dr. Jonathan.”
