Explosion: 1 Dies, Scores Injured In Lagos Boat Accident

One person was confirmed dead, while several others were injured in Lagos State when a passengers boat belonging to Aquitien Oil and Gas exploded while trying to refill gasoline at Capital Oil Jetty.
Our correspondent learnt that the tragedy which occurred in Victoria Island left many passengers with various degrees of injuries.
It was gathered that the lone casualty, Emmanuel Onu, was initially missing before his dead body was later found yesterday(Sunday).
According to a relative of the deceased, Sunday Ezugha, the relative were left to look for their son, even after they could not find him among the injured passengers in the hospitals.
According to him, he reported to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to intervene.
Speaking with Newsmen, NEMA’s south west spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed that the boat took off from V-Craft Jetty, Lekki Phase One and exploded while trying to refill gasoline at Capital Oil Jetty at Victoria Island.
Farinloye added that the boat which was said to belong to Aquitien Oil and Gas, took off from V-Craft Jetty, Lekki Phase One, and while trying to refill gasoline at Capital Oil Jetty at Victoria Island, the engine exploded.
“A relative, Sunday Ezugha, of one of the missing passengers Emmanuel Onu called and narrated that the owner of the boat Aquitien Oil and Gas could not be reached since the incident occurred,” he said.
