Kwankwaso, others ‘ll return to PDP soon – Sen. Adeyemi

The senator representing Kogi-west in the National Assembly, Smart Adeyemi, is confident that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would soon return to the ruling PDP.
Addressing members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) when he led other federal lawmakers from his senatorial district on a visit to the national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, Senator Adeyemi said the APC will collapse after its presidential convention.
He said that since it was the presidential ambition of the major stalwarts of the APC that informed their defection, the main opposition party will lose steam and direction once any of the aspirants emerged as presidential candidate.
Checks revealed that Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar are presidential aspirants.
Also in the race are former presidential candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC), General Muhammadu Buhari and former Lagos State governor and National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu.
He thanked the National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu for turning around the fortunes of the party since assuming office. “We are here to register our appreciation because we are impressed with what you are doing. Those who knew your remarkable achievements as Bauchi State governor were not surprised that you are doing well as PDP National Chairman.
Responding, Mu’azu who described Senator Adeyemi as a good representative of the party, also thanked him for his positive appraisal of the national leadership of the party.
“I feel encouraged by your commendation and we shall continue to work to ensure we retain our position in the polity. We shall continue to rule this country and develop it under President Goodluck Jonathan. We shall continue to guarantee security of lives and property,” he said.
