NFF crisis: Minister clears Maigari to resume on Monday

Minister of Sports and Chairman National Sports Commission (NSC), DR. Tammy Danagogo, has graciously cleared the embattled President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Aminu Maigari, to return to his position at Glass House by Monday.
Speaking to the media after a meeting with Maigari, who paid him a courtesy visit along two members of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Kawu and Yusuf Ahmed, yesterday, the minister said that he has secured the commitments of other board members to cooperate with the embattled NFF boss when he resumes duty.
“He (Maigari) came on a courtesy call. What all well-meaning stakeholders have been trying to do all these while is to ensure that the crisis is resolved,” the Minister said.
“By the grace of God, we have secured the commitment of the president and his board members after meeting with them few days ago.
“They have all resolved to work together peacefully, in addition to making sure that the electoral process goes smoothly. More people will have access to the electoral forms to ensure that the best materials emerge leaders of the football federation without any form of bias or restrictions.
“He (Maigari) has come to assure me that they are going to work together to ensure that the crisis will die a natural death. Let’s also add that before FIFA wrote on Thursday, stakeholders had advised the NFF board members, including the President and the Vice President who was said to be acting, to sheathe their swords since we have few days to the election. They enjoined them to go and work together and ensure that the election is conducted peacefully. We must understand that NFF is an autonomous body,” he said.
Asked if Maigari will contest the forthcoming election, the Honourable Minister said: “He has the right as a citizen of Nigeria to contest. It is his decision on whether to run or not.”
