Libya had pulled out of the event due to the raging civil war in the country with the government unable to guarantee security of would be participating countries.
CAF said it would consider bid from countries with capacity to host, stable government, tight security and the financial muscle to stage the event.
Although Nigeria had yet to formally indicate interest to host the event, given her rich football history she may be prevailed upon to bid to host.
CAF was believed to be mounting pressure on other North African countries to take up the task, but if that fails it may encourage Nigeria to bid.
Although the competition is rotated, this arrangement may be altered due to Libya’s decision to pull out.
