Rwanda to partner FRSC on road safety management

A team of road safety personnel from Rwanda will soon visit Nigeria to understudy the Federal Road Safety Commission’s (FRSC) modality of road management, a statement said on Wednesday.
The statement, signed by Deputy Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, said the outgoing Rwanda High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Joseph Habineza, gave the indication when he visited the commission in Abuja.
Habineza said his country was desirous of replicating FRSC’s model of road safety management.
The High Commissioner commended the FRSC for attaining greater heights in Information Technology deployment, which he said had impacted positively on the driving habit of motorists.
Earlier, the Corps Marshal FRSC, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, said the commission had taken giant strides in road traffic safety management through massive investment in personnel and technology.
Oyeyemi said the success so far recorded by the FRSC had motivated some countries in the continent like Sierra Leone, Ghana, Tanzania and Liberia to partner with the commission.
He also said the commission had benefited immensely from the World Bank’s support on road rehabilitation and enhanced capacity for enforcement of road traffic rules and regulations under the `Safe Corridor Project’.
The corps marshal assured Rwanda that the commission was ready to assist it in road safety management. (NAN)
