Threat of parallel government: PDP carpets APC

The threats by the main opposition party in the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to form a parallel government if next year’s general elections were rigged has courted the anger of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing the party faithful at a rally on Tuesday in Osogbo, Osun State capital, National Chairman of the APC, Odigie Oyegun vowed that the party would form a parallel government if PDP rigs 2015 general elections.
“The APC is prepared for free and fair election. If anyone steals our mandate on February 20, 2015, we will resist it and set up a people’s government. Let them be warned, there would be dire consequences for this,” Oyegun had said.
But addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh submitted that “the threat to institute such is nothing short of implementing the agenda to destabilise and collapse the democratic system and institute a reign of anarchy.”
Metuh expressed concern that the main opposition party’s understanding of ‘rigging’ is where they lose election.
“Whenever they win as was the case in Edo, it is free and fair.”
The PDP national publicity scribe further claimed that Oyegun’s declaration has exposed the APC “intention to overthrow a democratically-elected government having realised that they cannot and will not win in the general elections.”
