Umeh faction alleges plot to return Maigari through congress

The Mike Umeh faction of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) executive committee has raised the alarm about the plot by the out-going President of the soccer federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, to use congress delegates to relaunch himself to contest the postponed NFF general election.
A member of the board, who confided in our correspondent in Abuja yesterday noted that, though the plot had been reported to the necessary quarters, there was still fears that Maigari may breach the gentleman agreement reached during the meeting at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation at the weekend.
“During the meeting, it was agreed among other things that the congress would take place in Abuja instead of Warri, but there will be no elections on Tuesday, August 26. The congress will only fashion out a roadmap for the elections, with the elective congress expected to come up not later than two weeks after the Congress with Maigari not presenting himself for a second term.
“However, we have uncovered plot by the out-going president to use members of the congress loyal to him to stage a comeback and that will amount to a violation of the agreement stakeholdes reached in the office of the SGF.
“This latest move has been reported to the appropriate quarters, but we still want Nigerians to know the kind of person we are dealing with. We will resist this latest attempt,” our source said
