Jonathan to host Falconets

President Goodluck Jonathan will host the Falconets ‎to a presidential reception  on their return from Canada‎.He expressed optimism that the Falconets can become a team to be reckon with in women’s football, following their impressive performance at the just concluded FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament in Canada.
In his congratulatory message ‎to the team, for winning the silver medal‎, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, assured them that despite their loss in extra time to their German counterparts in yesterday’s keenly contested final, all Nigerians remain proud of the skillful, highly spirited and patriotic performance they put up throughout the tournament.
He applauded the Falconets, who outplayed the Germans in the final, and also had greater ball possession and a higher number of goal attempts, for equaling Nigeria’s best-ever finish in the tournament, and, in Asisat Oshoala, producing this year’s top scorer and Most Valuable Player.
President Jonathan, who said he stayed awake till 3.am (local time in Germany) to watch the match with his aides, assured that as he promised the girls during his chat with the team on Saturday, believed that the Falconets had shown the world that with their innate skills, strength, resilience and determination, they can remain a great force in women’s football globally for many years to come.
Jonathan assured the teams and their handlers that they will continue to receive all the support and encouragement required from the Federal Government to fully actualize their world-beating potentials.
