Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Ali
Ahmed Karti, said President Omar Al-Bashir has called for improved
relations with the U.S, in spite of its long-standing economic embargo
on the African nation.
Karti said in Khartoum on Monday that Al-Bashir also instructed him to work for the enhancement of Sudan’s relations with neighboring Arab and African countries.
Karti said Al-Bashir gave the instructions after he briefed him on a number of issues, including a recent telephone call he had with his U.S. counterpart John Kerry and a meeting he held with his Libyan counterpart, during a recent visit to Khartoum by Libyan Prime Minister Al-Thani.
The foreign minister said the telephone call with Kerry focused on ways to remove the obstacles that have frozen the Sudanese-American relations.
Karti said he had agreed with Kerry on specific steps to take to achieve better relations. (PANA/NAN)
