Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is the new chairman of the African Union for the coming year. He was chosen for the roving position at the ongoing African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Mugabe, who turns 91 next month, drew applause when he denounced colonialism. Earlier, the UN secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon, had warned of the dangers of leaders clinging to power. Robert Mugabe has led his country since 1980.
