| I remain loyal, committed PDP chieftain –Ihedioha |
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha remains a loyal chieftain and committed leader of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).In a statement issued yesterday, his Chief Press Secretary, Oke Epia said the Deputy Speaker has no reason not to be loyal to a party on whose platform he had won elections into the federal legislature thrice.
Reacting to our report of May 5, 2014, Mr. Epia said the billboards referred to in the report were the Deputy Speaker’s Easter greetings to the people of Imo State and definitely, had no political undertone.
“For the records, the Deputy Speaker has not mounted any campaign billboards in Imo State or anywhere else for that matter.
“The billboards referred to in the said story are Easter goodwill greetings addressed to the people of Imo State in his capacity as Deputy Speaker and the highest ranking national political office holder from the state.
“Let it be noted that such gesture is in line with his time-honoured tradition of felicitating with Imolites and his colleagues in the House of Representatives during festive seasons.
“This is why the Easter greetings of His Excellency to Imolites did not bear the PDP logo or profess interest in any elective position.
“It is not in doubt that the contributions of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC to the good fortunes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels in his federal constituency, Imo State and the nation at large, have been positively remarkable and inspiring to the PDP fold in the state.
“As Deputy Speaker, he will continue to offer his best to move the party forward. It is therefore, imperative that all well-meaning and loyal members of the party in the state join forces and synergise towards the ultimate objective of enthroning a PDP administration in Imo come 2015,” he said.
