About 10 persons feared as 'Explosion' rocks college in Kano

An explosion has struck a public health college in Nigeria's second city of Kano, in the north, reports say.

The number of casualties from the blast, which hit the Kano School of Hygiene, is not yet known.

But some eye witnesses claim about 10 persons were killed.

The city is known to have been targeted in the past by the radical Islamist group Boko Haram, which aims to create an Islamic state in northern Nigeria.

Three states in the north are under a government-imposed state of emergency following years of militant attacks.
