Former Federal Lawmaker berates Aregbesola over comments on Ekiti election

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state and immediate past senator who represented Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Bode Ola has criticised Osun State governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, over the governor’s recent claim that the June 21 election in Ekiti state was rigged in favour of the candidate of his party, Mr. Ayo Fayose.
The senator described the governor’s claim as ill-conceived and a deliberate attempt to discredit the Ekiti election.
Speaking in an interview with Sunday Trust in Ado-Ekiti, Ola said it was an error for someone who was not in the state to conclude that an election exercise, which was adjudged to be free and fair was rigged.
“I sympathize with my friend, Governor Aregbesola on what I think is his fears that PDP might perform same feat in his state come August 9.
“The statement made by the Osun State Governor, to me is a deliberate attempt to discredit the Ekiti election, and he knows why he is doing that”, he said.
The former senator, who recently defected from the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the PDP said the election would be won by Fayose if contested 10 times because of his popularity and charisma.
He said he was in support of the statement made by Fayose during his visit to the PDP headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday that President Goodluck Jonathan would be returned in 2015, especially in the South West.
Similarly, the state chapter of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) also urged Fayose to sustain the existing peace in the state and complete all ongoing projects started by Governor Kayode Fayemi.
In statement yesterday, the CNPP congratulated the governor-elect on his success and also commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for accepting the outcome of the election in good faith.
The statement signed by the Director of Publication, Prince Ayo Adelabu, urged Fayose to constitute an all-inclusive government.
