This was just as he denied ever owing mansions in Owerri or abroad as alleged by Governor Rochas Okorocha, stating that it was part of the campaign of calumny against his person.
Ohakim stated this yesterday during the meeting of the political leaders of Okigwe zone, held at his country-home in Okohia, Isiala Mbano Council Area.
He urged the people of Imo State to ask Governor Okorocha what he had done with the N40 billion which his administration handed over to him.
“I left N13.2 billion in the UBA account but this money, as I am talking to you today, has vanished. This is apart from the N26.8 billion I left in various bank accounts and which I handed over to Governor Rochas Okorocha before leaving office, and I think that the people of Imo State should ask the governor what he has done with that huge funds,” Ohakim said.
The former governor, who also dismissed allegations that he flogged a Catholic priest and journalists during the 2011 electioneering, expressed gratitude to God that the truth had eventually surfaced with the unfolding situations in the state.
He denied ever having mansions in the state or abroad.
“Governor Okorocha has alleged that I have many mansions in Owerri and abroad, but for three years now, they have not been able to prove their allegation. Don’t forget that the commissioner for land and urban development is the son-in-law of Okorocha; so, it was just part of the diversionary tactics of Okorocha,” he said.
Ohakim expressed his desire to return to Government House to complete his tenure as provided by the constitution, but was quick to add that his party’s decision was paramount and promised to abide by any decision taken by his party.
Meanwhile, Ohakim has apologised to the street traders and the school teachers who were disengaged due to alleged falsification of certificates even though most of them were campaigning for the present government.
