2015: INEC vows to conduct free, fair election in Jigawa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to conduct free, fair and credible elections in Jigawa State  in 2015. This was announced yesterday by INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Bagobiri while inaugurating the Jigawa State Inter-Agency Advisory Committee on Voter Education and Publicity (SICVEP) in Dutse, the state capital.
He said the commission inaugurated the committee as one of its several events, which were included in INEC’s strategic plan ahead of 2015-2016 general elections.
“The committee is designed to educate people and enlighten them not only about the specifics and mechanism of the electoral process but also geared towards empowering them to know their rights and responsibilities in the electoral process.”
Bagobiri maintained that INEC was doing its best to conduct elections that would satisfy the needs of the majority in the country.
The commissioner also explained that during the last 2007 and 2011 general elections, Jigawa State was among the best to have a credible and well accepted election results.
He then urged various organisation and agencies in the state to support  the committee for another successful exercise.
