PDP not interested in impeaching Ajimobi –Akala

Former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala yesterday dissociated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the alleged impeachment plot against Governor Abiola Ajimobi. Recent media reports had stated that some PDP members in the Oyo State House of Assembly were holding meetings to impeach the governor.
Fielding questions from journalists after a closed-door meeting with the Chairman of the PDP in the South-West, Prince Buruji Kashamu, for about one hour, Akala said there was nothing like that.
His words: “Although, the man there (Ajimobi), is on the verge of leaving office, the PDP is not part of the rumoured plot to remove him.
“PDP members in Oyo State are not part of any plot or alliance with anybody or group to remove Ajimobi, who is buying time in the office. We cannot do that. Why should they remove him, what has he done? Let him finish his job and go away,” Akala said.
According to him,  he was in Ijebu Igbo to felicitate with Kashamu as a Muslim friend and brother.
Although details of the meeting were not made public,  Daily Sun gathered that top on the agenda was how PDP could win the forthcoming elections in Oyo State.
Akala had earlier stormed the Omo Ilu Foundation Hall where no fewer than 1,500 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the PDP.
Spokesperson for the defectors, Sylvester Abiodun, said they were dumping APC for PDP because the former’s leadership does not fulfil its promises.
