Agric ministry to partner Uganda on e-wallet

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has retreated its commitment to partnering with Uganda in agriculture development and  processes.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja, during a courtesy visit by a study team from Uganda on the E-wallet innovation to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Mrs. Ahmed Asebe, stated that the ministry remained committed  to partnering Uganda, to raise its agricultural programme and development.
Stressing the importance of e-wallet in agriculture, Mrs Ahmed said that e-wallet was a unique strategy, which has actually taken agriculture to another level.
“Before now agriculture was known as a poor man’s business but now things have changed because it is no more a poor man’s business but as a development programme “, she stated. Earlier on, the Ugandan Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Ruth Nankabirwa congratulated the ministry for its innovation.
Nankabirwa said, Uganda is challenged with the problem of agriculture implementation and believed that with the adoption of the e-wallet, it will help them to reduce under procurement.
“We are challenged with the problem of agriculture implementation and we thought that this e- wallet system will help us to reduce under procurement and with time, it will also help to control the quality seed.
According to her, there is no doubt that the team’s visit to Nigeria will impact Uganda’s agriculture sector.
