Al-Makura: Physically challenged protest sack move

Physically challenged persons in Nasarawa State yesterday staged a protest against the impeachment move by the state House of Assembly against Governor Tanko AI-Makura  over alleged gross misconduct and mismanagement of state funds.
Chairman of physically challenged persons in the state, Alhaji Umaru Abubakar, also appealed to the members of the state Assembly to rescind their decision in the best interest of the state and the country.
Abubakar said dialogue was the best solution to the current impasse between members of the state Assembly and the governor so that together, they could move the state forward.
He urged elders of Nasarawa State, especially traditional and religious leaders, to sit at a roundtable to resolve the crisis between the Assembly and the governor amicably.
Meanwhile, a coalition of Nasarawa State Youth Progressive Initiative, Arewa Citizens Action for Change Foundation and Arewa Youth Development Foundation, the state chapter, has condemned the conduct and actions of some members of the state House of Assembly.
According to a communiqué issued at the end of the coalition’s meeting in Lafia, signed by Messrs Umar Modibo and Muhammad Ibrahim, the group described the attitude of the state lawmakers as not only ill-fated, but also motivated by personal and political gains rather than the interest of the state.
The statement added that Al-Makura’s government was for the masses, adding that the masses were behind him and against the plot to impeach the governor by the members of the Assembly.
It stated that no governor in the history of Nasarawa State had achieved what the governor had achieved in less than three and half years and was still doing his best to improve the living standard of the people.
