The plight of Igbo indigene of Benue State!
This write up was forwarded to me by our family members in Benue State to publish in Nigerian widest read paper, the Sun Newspaper. Before I do that I want to bring it to this forum for your comments and contributions so that I will use it as part of the story I want to make out of it. And if you have any touching issue about Ndi Igbo that needs to be published in the papers you can email peteragbakalu@yahoo.com
“The Igbo indigenes who have been settling in Benue State since 1908 have cried bitterly over ugly situation they have been facing. The Igbos in Benue have suffered several deprivations and humiliations of their fundamental human right as the full citizens of this great nation particularly the Igbos in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State. It should be clear that these people made up of over 85 communities in the said Ado Local Government Area cannot boast of any social infrastructure such as good road, electricity; polio immunization program for our children, good water supply, health centers and even a secondary school. Igbos being the most populated people in Ado Local Government Area with well over 300 villages who pay their taxes as at when due, participate fully in all the council and state activities are still being regarded as slaves. For instance, these major occupants in the Area do not have even one political ward and as a result, cannot produce ordinary “ward councilor” talk more of supervisory councilor or a member in the state cabinet. This ugly situation has attracted some gaze whether we are still the citizens of this great nation! The insecticide mosquito nets that were distributed by the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Health to be shared to the citizens free of charge were sold to over eighty five communities at the rate of six hundred Naira (N 600) each, and some paid without claiming the insecticide net till date.
What an injustice! , Benue State Government only remember that people like us exist only during election, after which we are being dumped.
Now that the Federal Republic of Nigeria is celebrating her 14th years of un-interrupted democratic rule in Nigeria, the Igbo community especially that in Ado Local Government are yet to enjoy their divided of democracy.
However, we appeal to the government of our dear President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to come to our aid by setting up a committee that will address this issue of marginalization of some citizens in the country of their own. The federal Government and Benue state Government in particular should understand that the Benue State (slogan) as the food basket of the nation is a collective effort of the masses and the Igbo people, inclusive”.

He WHO HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN CAN NEVER FORGET HIS/HER SELF!!!! Enough is enough! I thing this is the right time for we "NDI IGBO" to wake up from sleep. Our problem today is our selfish leaders that dose not know thire work. But as it is now we are no longer asking for who is to blaim, all we want now is how we "ndi igbo" will wake from sleep and stop being (ono na mmiri ncha bara na anya) slave in our fathers house not fathers land anymore. "NDI IGBO WAKE UP!!!!!!
Aguocha Chinwendu:
Ohaneze what are you doing, the 5 gorvernors of the east what are you saying, they are your people visit them ane comfort them,Govno Ibukun amusun of Ogun state recently visited the yoruba speaking communities in Benin Republic far away from nigeria he even promised to visit other communities in Delta, edo, kogi states, pls you people can do something to unite us and make us strong again as a people.
Ifebi Cbn:
I'm not putting d blames on Benue State Govt but on IGBO Leaders who knows nothing else but their own selfish interest! These so-called leaders keep romancing FG for their pockets & by so doing, they neglected the masses to pay through their nose as they are being treated with Impunity. What is happening in Benue is still happening in other states. What we "Ndi Igbo" are passing through in this country "Nigeria" & Outside Nigeria is unfathomable. It's high time Our Youths rise up & Fight for Ndi Igbo. Whenever I see the faces of Our (Igbo) Ex & Current Governors, Ministers, Senators & all those who carry themselves as Our leaders & Rep, I feel like asking d earth to open up & swallow them all up b'cos they are all two-faced-beings. As for GEJ, I'm disappointed in him.
Biafra Shall Rise Again.

This is a pathetic story dat needs urgent attention. How can someone be in his/her fatherland as a slave. Mmadu o ga-ano na mmiri ncha aba ya anya? Mba! All we "NDI-IGBO" need 2 do is 2 cum 2geda as one body nd fight 4 d actualization of BIAFRA coz i hv seen dat dia is notin gud dat NDI-IGBO wil benefit frm dis country called Nigeria. D main problem we NDI-IGBO faces 2day is lack of unity nd undastnding among ourselves. Most of our so called leaders re dia doing nothing 4 NDI-IGBO only dia pocket. We re nt united coz we sabotage ourselves 4gettin dat united wil stnd nd divided wil fall. We can only achieve our goals if we can be united "maka na anyuko mamiri onu owee gba ufufu"..... Ndu ogogolo NDI-IGBO!

I suggest they send some delegates to Benue State government house/State Assembly to lay their complain. If nothing is done, then they should storm Aso rock.

the story is not only heartbreaking,,, but once again bring to the fore the imbalance & political gang up against the Igbo's.. Ado Local government with over 85 community & 300 villages has no single representative any were in the nation political setting, no basic amenities, no social & economic communication network, totally disconnected from the world & modern realities.. this is unacceptable, & every true Igbo Son & Daughter should stand up & condemn this gross dis-humanise life style the Ado Igbo's are subjected into.. Meanwhile, somany questions seems to be begging for answer in respect to the above submission.. Why is the governors of the south eastern state not taking it upon themselves to demand for better life to our brothers & sisters who find themselves in Benue State as a result of our faulty boundary demarcation.? why is Ohaneze Ndi Igbo still silent on this matter.? Who will save the Ado Igbo's from their political oppressor.? for how long will the Ado's suffer in their father land & in a country blessed by God.? who is behind the Ado neglect.? did the rest Igbo's actually recognise the Ado Igbo's.? Untill we start feeling their pains,, ''actions may take time to commence.. therefore, my humble view is to forward & table this matter before the national assembly backed with a powerful delegation from that Area & from other Igbo speaking state.. Ado Igbo's must be liberated & all other Igbo's from this holding back chain that has ancor in Nigeria.. the Igbo nation & her people needs to rise again....

It's not only in Benue, come to Lagos state it's same. Anywhere Igbos dominated is always govt's abandoned Zones, go to Satelite town, Ago Okota, U will ask yourself if those areas are part of Lagos state bcos they are privately developed by our people. No Road,no bore hole water and Electricity. Our general problem as Ndigbo is that those that sits in govt never put welfare of their Citizens living in and outside their states as their priority, instead they will be there husling for contracts to enrich their Banks account.
