Mass promotion in police

New DIGs, AIGs emerge
  The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday announced the promotion of six Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs).The PSC also announced the promotion of two Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (DIG). The newly promoted DIGs are Dan’Azumi Doma, Mamman Tsafe, David Omojola, Solomon Arase, Christopher Katso and Salihu Hashidu. Those promoted to AIG, include, Hilary Opara and Sotonye Wakama.
According to a statement by the Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ferdinand Ekpe, all the promotions were with effect from August 19.
Ekpe re-affirmed the commission’s earlier decision that promotions from the ranks of ACPs to AIGs would only be done after its interviews with the affected officers, saying the commission had at its 6th plenary on August 12, reviewed the time limit within which aggrieved police officers could lodge complaints against punishment meted to them to 30 days from the receipt of the decisions.
He said: “It has also availed aggrieved officers the opportunity to appeal directly to the commission where an action on its decision is not implemented by the police authorities as directed by it.
While congratulating the newly promoted officers, the Chairman of the PSC, Mike Okiro, a former Inspector General of Police, charged them to see their elevation as opportunity to serve and use their wealth of experience in uplifting the Nigeria Police.”
