Ogah rejects Abia PDP guber primary result, dismisses it as a fraud
**The delegates that came for the primary, they can be hired thugs..Some of the people brought in cannot write their names and that person is a delegate in Abia?
President of Masters Energy, Dr. Uche Ogah, has rejected the outcome of the Abia State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary held in Umuahia on Monday.
Ogah, who came second in the contest with 103 votes, claimed that the exercise was fraught with fraud.
Speaking to News Express at his Uturu country home on Tuesday, Ogah said there was no credible and proper accreditiation of the delegates who participated in the primary, giving way to admission of non-delegates to vote in the exercise.
“I know there was no formal accreditation and people were given tags just to go and vote. Everything in Abia is fraud; why? Everything, from beginning to the end,” he said.
Continuing, Ogah said: “Politics is something that is done in the open, with the masses, the people; it is not about the elite. The delegates that came for the primary, they can be hired thugs. Can you imagine that some of the people brought in cannot write their names and that person is a delegate in Abia? In the 21st Century, we cannot produce elegible people literate enough to elect a representative; you have security men, you have stewards, they are delegates. I have never seen such a thing like that.”
Ogah alleged that a fake accreditation centre and a fake delegates list were created. He lamented: “While the main delegates were going to Ibeku High School, they now carried people in buses into the stadium. While we were fighting to have one centre for the accreditiation, by the time we came to the stadium, everywhere was filled up.
“For me, I felt that my people were already there but people were texting me that the delegates were outside. And the people were saying ‘we are delegates, we have not been allowed to enter’. Once they identify you are pro-Uche Ogah, they push you away and give another person the tag. That is not the process; it can never give the mandate of the people. A process that is a charade, with fraud, can never give you the mandate of the people.”
The businessman-turned politician is still keeping his next move close to his chest. “In the next seven days, I will tell you the way forward,” he said, adding: “If the PDP wants to make it, they must go with Uche Ogah; that is the only way.”
He appealed to his teeming supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that he would triumph in the end.
