Kill 3, arrest 27 robbery suspects in Katsina

No fewer than 27 armed robbery suspects have been arrested following a gun duel between the men of Katsina State Police Command and hoodlums which left three of the bandits dead. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Aminu Sadiq Abubakar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who disclosed this yesterday, said the command also recovered eight vehicles, nine assorted guns and over 300 live ammunition, among others. Abubakar said the police also embarked on consistent raids of all the black spots and criminal hideouts and 540 suspects arrested were charged to court since the current Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Hurdi, assumed office. He attributed the feat to the improvement on prompt response to distress and emergency situations through town hall meetings, accessible patrol deployment and availing the public with dedicated police phone lines. Abubakar, who also paraded two members of a syndicate allegedly terrorising innocent citizens and vandalising motor vehicles in the state capital, said three cars suspected to have been used for operation, some tools and about N1.4 million were recovered from the hoodlums.
