Sokoto Police arrest three robbers, recover N15m
The Sokoto State Police Command has recovered N15 million from three armed robbery suspects arrested after their operations.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Douglas Agbouleni, while parading the suspects alongside others, said they were arrested along a forest route in Rabah Local Government Area of the state.
He said a team of policemen had accosted the six-man gang at a checkpoint following a distress call from the victims.
“The money was taken from one of the traders at Illela market in Illela Local Government Area, a border town, during an operation,” he said.
He said three other suspects were at large, assuring that the command would soon apprehend them.
Mr Agbouleni said a locally-made six-barrel pistol, an Italian pistol were among arms and ammunition recovered from the suspects.
The command also paraded two other suspects, who allegedly specialised in attacking motorists around bank premises in parts of the state.
The senior police officer said the command also arrested two other suspected handset thieves and recovered six mobile phones and cash from them.
