PDP, APC supporters clash in Osun

Supporters of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Rauf Aregbesola yesterday evening engaged in a free-for- all in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
According to sources, supporters of the two candidates macheted each other and inflicted serious injuries on no fewer than six people, at Gbodo area of Ife-East Local Government Area Ile-Ife.
It was also gathered  that dozens of motorcycles, tricycles and houses of known party chieftains were set ablaze during the clash while one person was alleged to have been shot in the arm.
However, the PDP claimed that the APC members were the first to attack its members. Reacting through a statement issued last night, Omisore’s media aide, Mr Diran Odeyemi stated that “the Peoples Democratic Party wishes to bring to the attention of the public, the ongoing attacks on members of the PDP and their property in the ancient town of Ile-Ife, Osun State.”
But the APC, in a statement by its Director of Publicity, Kunle Oyatomi denied the allegation made against his party members.
