The Spokesman for the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa Metuh yesterday said that the meeting between members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), the National Working Committee members and the leadership of the National Assembly of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus, was meant to promote cooperation as well as the transformation agenda of the party.
According to Metuh, who briefed State House Correspondents at the end of the meeting, the focus was the interface between the executive, the legislature and the party, with a view to promoting and publicizing the ideals of the achievements of the transformation agenda of the government and to ensure that the confidence of Nigerians is gained.
He said: “There was a meeting between FEC members, the NWC members and the leadership of the National Assembly PDP caucus.
“The meeting discussed a lot of issues, the most important issues being the interface between the executive, the legislature and the party with a view to promoting and publicizing the ideals of the achievements of the transformation agenda of the government and to ensure that we continue to gain the confidence of Nigerians.
“The PDP being the only party that promotes the unity and progress of Nigeria that covers all national interest, we want to ensure that our people will continue to have faith in the party.
The meeting set up a small committee to continue to dialogue and promote theses ideals”.
On whether the October Adamawa governorship by-election featured in the meeting, Metuh said “the issue of Adamawa is an exclusive preserve of the NWC and the body is unknown to the constitution of the party to discuss such matters”.
Asked if ministers with political ambitions were asked to resign, the PDP Spokesman said, that too did feature either because, “we have not brought out our guidelines.
