A socio-political group,
the Goodluck Solidarity Mandate (GSM), Ekiti State, has faulted
statements credited to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and the
President of Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, Mallam Sheu Sani, that
last Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State, was fraught with
irregularities.
The Ekiti State coordinator of the group,
Mr Stephen Oladipupo and secretary, Olaiya Bosede, said in a statement
made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, that “Nigerians
should not be cynical that something good could come from the country.”
The group noted that despite the fact that Nigerian and international
observers as well as stakeholders, who witnessed the exercise, described
it as free, fair and credible, it was unfortunate that “Governor
Aregbesola and Sani still rubbished the whole process.”
It
said: “While the GSM will not like to take issues with any group or
individual over an election that was internationally adjudged to be
free, fair and a model for future elections in the country.”
