2015: ‘APGA has not zoned guber position to Ebonyi South’

The Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ebonyi State, Chief Jerry Obasi, has said the party has not zoned the governorship or any other position to any section or senatorial zone in the state ahead of the 2015 general elections.
He said despite the fact that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had reportedly zoned the governorship to the southern part of the state, APGA would go for only credible candidates no matter where they came from in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Obasi said there would be level playing ground for every aspirant on the party’s platform, noting that APGA was the party to beat in the state and other South-East states because it had been adjudged the most popular party in the zone.
His words: “The manifestoes of APGA and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are not the same, their constitutions are not the same, and the membership drive is not the same. If you look at the zoning arrangement, literarily yes, you will say that somebody from the North had been governor, somebody from  the Central is completing his second tenure; so, it should be the turn of the South to produce the governor. But in power balancing, it is not reserved for a particular group or group of persons or a section of the state.”
It is left for the politicians from the southern zone of the state to come up with strong conviction that they deserve power as southern part of the state”.
“As it is now, we have not zoned position to any part of the state. So, the best candidate will emerge. The party is open to everybody who wants to run for any particular position.”
