Ojiri promises strong local economy for Imo

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Imo State, Ken Ojiri, has promised to build a local economy that will not depend on federal allocations if elected governor in 2015.
Speaking while receiving PDP officers and leaders of his Obibi Ward 2 in Owerri North Local Government Area, Ojiri said creating a viable local economy would lead to a drastic reduction in unemployment.
His words: “What is uppermost in my mind is to employ my expertise in the direction of building a solid local economy for Imo, using our naturally endowed resources with the ultimate goal of generating economically rewarding employment for Imo people. No economy thrives with a preponderant number of young people not gainfully employed.”
The politician promised that Imo people would notice great positive difference within a very short time if he became governor, insisting that Imo had all the resources endowed by God to be great if the gifts of nature were properly harnessed and deployed for the general good of the people.
Ojiri told the ward leaders that their visit had afforded him an opportunity for wider interaction, and assured them of his support at all times.
Earlier in his speech, the Ward Chairman, Mr. Canice Osuji, who led the party officers and leaders, said they were on a solidarity visit to the politician to encourage and assure him of their support in his aspiration, adding that it was their project as a group and as individuals.
Mr. Osuji enjoined the party faithful in the ward to focus their efforts in the direction of moving the party forward and making it formidable to be able to win all elective positions in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking also, Okenze Henry Unegbu admonished PDP members in the ward to work hard to help Ojiri succeed, describing him as the most proper person for the job.
