Zinox Group invests N18bn in phone distribution

Zinox Group has disclosed that it is investing a whopping sum of N18 billion in TD Mobile, an arm of the conglomerate concerned with its mobile devices distribution. The new investment, according to the group, will make it a different brand from other phone distributors.
TD Mobile is a digital lifestyle and highly mobile products’ distribution arm of Technology Distributions (TD) Limited.  Its Chairman, Mr. Leo-Stan Ekeh, explained earlier that the group would inject N18 billion into its operations, while  launching the biggest support centre in Africa and a showroom of about 1000 square metres.
“Although it is not easy to operate in this environment, we are not chasing after money rather the passion to get it right,” he said.
Ekeh also disclosed that TD Mobile would launch a power bank to back up devices on the go before the end of this month, adding that products from TD Mobile also come with one-of-a-kind guarantee, online serial number confirmations, which authenticate users of all mobile devices.
In the same vein, Managing Director of TD Mobile, Mrs. Gozy Ijogun, said the industry has a lot of things going for it.
“The global smart phone market reached a milestone this year with a billion units sold and an aggressive 40 per cent growth from 2012 with a healthy projection for next year. With dwindling growth rates across most sectors worldwide, those of us in the ICT sector should clink our glasses in readiness to celebrate.
“The sheer volume of strong growth demonstrates strong end-user demand of smart devices as a tool that brings a solid computing experience to the hands of many.”
She maintained that over 60 per cent of Nigerians do not have access to the internet and a sizeable fraction of the 170 million population cannot yet afford a laptop.
“With affordable smart devices with quality screen, software and user experience, TD Mobile is that window to the world for many Nigerians,” she said, stressing that TD Mobile seeks to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, the young and old, the North and South, as well as ethnic communities and religious divides. She noted that this could only be done through the power of information presented through smart devices.
Mrs. Ijogun also explained that ICT is a futuristic business and it was one of the reasons that the Zinox Group would be presenting to the public a bouquet of great devices, which include phablets, tablets and phones from HP and Lenovo, the ingenious and stylish Zinox range of tablets, Nokia 2520 tablet and a rich selection of highly mobile laptops from HP, Lenovo, Dell and Toshiba.
She added that the locally driven company understood the peculiarities of the market and would ensure that vendors it partnered with respect and recognise the trend.
