The insurgents were said to have attacked Mubi town last night causing residents and troops to flee the area
Boko Haram militants have reportedly invaded Mubi in Adamawa State and taken over the headquarters of the 234 battalion.
The insurgents were said to have attacked the town last night causing residents and troops to flee the area.
According to Sahara Reporters, the invasion began on Tuesday night in neighbouring towns before it spread into Mubi around noon on Wednesday, October 29.
The 234 battalion is reportedly one of the largest in the town and soldiers guarding the facility were said to have initially resisted the attack but they were eventually overwhelmed after more Boko Haram members arrived with heavy firepower.
This is the latest in attacks which have brought into question Nigeria’s purported ceasefire with the sect which was announced on October 17.
