In order to consolidate Nigeria’s
democratic gains, Senate leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, has advised Nigerian
politicians to avoid politics of sentiment, noting that in politics,
one must expect to have divergent views.
He spoke on Sunday shortly after attending a mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Orimekpang community in Boki local government area of Cross River State.
Ndoma-Egba, who was accompanied by top political associates drawn from Cross River Central and beyond, also made an initial donation of N1million to facilitate speedy completion of the church building project.
Reacting to questions from newsmen on recent political developments in the state and Nigeria, the senator representing Cross River Central in the Senate appealed to politicians not to personalise issues of common interest.
“You must expect different views in politics. My appeal is that we must not get personal. If there are issues, we must address the issues squarely.
“Where I would object seriously is when you leave the issues and begin to attack persons. I have my reputation; I have my integrity to protect”, he said.
While explaining that politics is people-centred, Ndoma-Egba dispelled the speculation that he has vested interest in a particular governorship aspirant, maintaining that he enjoys cordial relationship with all governorship aspirants in the state. source leadership
