FG To Supply Blood To Kano Hospitals

The Federal Government has promised to supply hospitals in Kano with blood in order to save the lives of victims of the Friday bomb blast in Kano.

NAN reports that many victims of the attack were on admission at various hospitals in the state capital.

Alhaji Musa Ilallah, the North-West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after visiting Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano on Saturday.

Already, he said the Federal Ministry of Health had directed its blood bank from Katsina to supply blood to the hospitals immediately.

"We went round the hospitals to assess the condition of those who are receiving treatment and we understand that what they needed most are blood and consumables.

"I spoke with the Federal Ministry of Health and they have assured me that they will mobilised blood bank in Katsina to supply blood to the hospitals’’, he said.

The Coordinator said the Ministry had also promised to supply drugs and other needed consumables from Abuja.

Ilallah commended Kano state government for providing all the needed materials for the treatment of the injured persons in the hospitals.

In his remark, the Executive secretary of the state Hospitals Management Board, Dr Kabir Maso-Kano said lack of consumables was hindering the treatment of the victims.

He however commended the residents for coming to coming to hospitals to donate blood for the victims.

NAN reports that residents of the city have continued to troop to hospitals in order to donate blood for the victims.

NAN also reports that NEMA officials had paid similar visits to Sir Sanusi, Nasarawa and Aminu Kano Teaching Hospitals. (NAN)
