El-Rufai’s son dies in auto crash

The residence of  former Minister of the Federal Territory (FCT), Malam Nasir el-Rufai, yesterday turned to a Mecca of sort, following the death of his son, Hamza, in Abuja.
Hamza, 23, a student of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Dubai, United Arab Emirates, died in a motor accident in the early hours of yesterday.
When Daily Sun visited the Aso Drive residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, eminent Nigerians were seen praying with and consoling el-Rufai.
Prominent among them were former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; a serving senator and former Special Assistant on Special Duties and Domestic Affairs to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Andy Uba; former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC chieftain, Chief Audu Ogbeh; former Minister of Works, Senator Sanusi Daggash, former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Waziri; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Alhaji Gidado Idris.
Speaking with Daily Sun, Ribadu expressed shock over the incident, saying he had lost a son in Hamza.
“Well, he is our son, he is my son and we lost a son. It is a very traumatic tragedy for all of us. We continue to bury our children but God knows best. May his soul rest in peace,” Ribadu prayed.
The former presidential aspirant on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), added that it was unfortunate that the present generation was burying its parents and children.
“It is a sad thing for our generation, we buried our parents and we are also burying our children.
“So, you can imagine the pain we go through. But God knows best. God loves him best. It is His choice,” Ribadu said.
