He said the 22 suspects arrested in the state within the last one month included those involved in the kidnap of the father of Super Eagles and Chelsea football star, John Mikel Obi.
According to him, the suspects were also involved in the kidnap of the personal assistant to the former commissioner for Works in the state, the brother of a member of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Valentine Anyika and the elder brother of Cosmas Maduka, among others.
Obiano said his government would continue to empower the state joint security team by providing the necessary equipment, adding that more than 60 security vehicles had been provided to the security operatives to facilitate their work.
He announced that the vigilance groups in the state were being re-organised and the personnel being screened and retrained to weed out the bad eggs, while a retired commissioner of police had been placed in charge of the group.
He said the drone and closed circuit television as well as other crime detection techniques and technology deployed across the state were yielding desired results, stressing that those criminals and other miscreants had no hiding place in the state.
The governor commended the security agencies and urged the citizens to continue to support the government to sustain the tempo.
The demolished buildings included a four-bedroom bungalow at Umudunu Dusogu, Awkuzu, built by one Izuchukwu, who died in a gun duel with the police on February 9 and another four-bedroom bungalow with adjoining boys quarter, owned by the Nwadike family of Obinetiti Dusogu village in Awkuzu, which was allegedly used as a detention camp for kidnap victims by a woman and her gang, still at large.
Also, speaking on the latest demolition exercise, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Finihan Adeboye, confirmed that one of the suspects confessed that more than N20 million was realised as ransom by the kidnap group in Umudunu, while over N80 million was collected from victims kept at the Obinetiti, Awkuzu hideout.
