The Kano State executive council at the weekend rose from its 146th Council meeting with a resolve to give financial boost to the tune of N7.5m illion to 15 clubs representing the state in the national leagues division 1 and 2 respectively.
According to a release by the Kano State Government signed by the Commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Dr. Farouk, the release of the fund was in response to the request for financial assistance to Nationwide football clubs representing Kano State in the 2013/2014 football season.
Though, the request made for the 15 clubs that needed financial assistance was put at an estimate of N12, 900, 000, the council after deliberation approved N7.5million.
Given the impressive performance of the teams, notably eight in the national division 1 and seven in the national division ll, the state executive council approved their request, which would see all the teams get the sum of N500, 000 each.
In addition to this, two 18 seater Hiace buses were also approved assist the teams. The buses which will be used on rotational basis will be under the care of the Kano State Sports Council.
