C’River guber: Stakeholders endorse Idagbor

The governorship ambition of Cross River State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Legor Idagbor, has received a boost with the endorsement by elders, concerned leaders, youths as well as stakeholders in Bekwarra politics ahead of the 2015 general elections.
Declaring their support for his aspiration at Abuochiche, the Bekwarra Local Government Area headquarters, the elders and stakeholders said their endorsement was necessitated by his antecedent and track records as two-time Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government from 2007 to 2011.
Speaking on behalf of the elders and stakeholders, comprising some members of the Northern caucus, leader of the group, Mr Linus Etalong Adie, said: “Having carefully watched his performance in office and his developmental strides as well as innovations as Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area from 2007 to 2011, from where he was made Commissioner for Works during his second term, by Governor Liyel Imoke, we have no doubt that he is the right and best material for the office of the governor in 2015.”
Etalong noted that “as a grassroots politician and son of a late judge of the state, Justice Ochikiri Idagbor, he would bring about equity, justice and fairness in the conduct of the affairs of the state as governor. That he was taken away and made commissioner for works in his second term in office as chairman by our governor, Senator Imoke, speaks loudly of the confidence the governor has in him and his capacity to deliver.”
The group said by this endorsement, it had already begun consultations with stakeholders across the state to sell his candidacy, even as it maintained that “a broad spectrum of stakeholders and interest groups are already keying into ‘Legor for 2015’ project and are optimistic that others who are nursing similar governorship ambition in the state will ultimately give up their ambition and coalesce into the ‘Legor for 2015’ project.”
While urging the electorates not to sacrifice competence for mediocrity, the group insisted that the office of the governor was too serious and delicate requiring committed and dedicated person to be left in the hands of those it described as jobbers and neophytes.
Those in attendance during the endorsement were Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area, Mr Augustine Ushie Onyi, Mike Idoko, Edward Efenji, Efenji Odey, among others.
